Submissions and nominations for two new programs launched under the Academic Strategic Plan—Trans-institutional Programs, or TIPS, and the Chancellor's Faculty Fellows Program—are in the midst of review by faculty from across the university.

Twelve members of Vanderbilt's faculty have been elected fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for their “scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications.”

Vanderbilt University Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos today announced the institution is embarking on a process to reconfigure Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a not-for-profit academic medical center that is financially distinct from the university. The move will give the medical center increased financial independence while preserving and growing the collaboration that has resulted in Vanderbilt's research, education and medical excellence.

Two committees tasked with fleshing out key initiatives in Vanderbilt’s Academic Strategic Plan are now staffed and ready to begin work.

Vanderbilt’s Academic Strategic Plan, which will guide university investments in faculty recruitment, capital planning, academic programs and philanthropic priorities over the next 10 years, was officially unveiled by Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos Aug. 21.
