Nursing graduates ready to begin health care journeys

Linda Norman, DSN, R.N., Dean of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing (VUSN) and Valere Potter Menefee Professor of Nursing, told the Class of 2017 during Investiture ceremonies last week that they have chosen to become nurses at the best point in history.

Commencement begins at 9 a.m. Friday, May 12.

School of Nursing parking lot closing May 15

A parking lot on 21st Avenue South, Lot 7, will close permanently Monday, May 15, as the university begins work on the new 29,947-square-foot addition to the School of Nursing. Lot 7 will be converted to a green space, with a drive that will allow for drop off at the entry of the renovated facility.

Health care, research and Latino populations subject of lecture May 11

Nilda Peragallo Montano, dean of the School of Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will speak on culturally appropriate ways for practitioners and researchers to reach out to and work with Latino subjects. The lecture will be Thursday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in Godchaux Nursing Annex, Room 161.

Ridner named to International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame

Sheila H. Ridner, the Martha Rivers Ingram Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, will be honored by Sigma Theta Tau International with induction into its International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will be held in July in Dublin, Ireland.
