When we made the announcement in late 2014 that Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center would become separate legal and financial entities, there were of course many questions. We’ve done our best to answer those questions, and many more, and to keep everyone informed as we’ve worked to make this reorganization largely a “non-event” for as many of our people as possible.

Transition complete: Vanderbilt University Medical Center is independent entity

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is now operating as a fully independent, nonprofit entity, following the completion of the legal transaction on April 30 that separated it legally and financially from Vanderbilt University. The transition positions VUMC for future growth and investment, while preserving its tightly woven connections to the University in research and teaching.

AccessVU to be unavailable April 29–May 1

AccessVU, the tool that supports creating new VUNetIDs, changing ePasswords and other services, will be unavailable from 5 p.m. April 29 to 2 p.m. May 1.

Marnett named dean of basic sciences for School of Medicine

Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan R. Wente announced today that Lawrence J. Marnett will be named dean of basic sciences in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine at the time of the legal separation of the university and Medical Center.
