Michael Regier, JD, general counsel and secretary at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has announced that he will retire at the end of the academic year. Douglas Mefford, JD, managing counsel in the Office of Legal Affairs, has been appointed to succeed him effective July 1.

Vanderbilt's Sam S. Chang, MD, has been elected trustee of the American Board of Urology, with a six-year term beginning March 21.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has received a federal grant to establish a first-of-its-kind training program in patient-oriented and health systems research focused on acute heart, lung, blood and sleep disorders in the hospital setting.
