The EDRN works to discover, develop and validate biomarkers and imaging methods to detect early-stage cancers, assess risk for developing cancer, and translate these tools into clinical tests.

Person, an award citation reads in part, “has been a champion for empathy and equity in caring for patients. ... She models for her learners how to compassionately care.”

According to the organization’s citation for Embí, “his thought leadership and research led to the field of clinical research informatics, real-world evidence generation, the safe and effective use of AI in health care, and data-driven learning health systems that improve health and care.”

Awards from the Tennessee Hospital Association and Metro Nashville Public Schools recognize Williams' efforts to ensure sustainability in the nursing profession.

Each year, the Byron Oberst Award is presented to a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics who has made significant contributions to the field of pediatric clinical informatics.
