“U.S. News” voting opens in February for “Best Hospitals” rankings

Annual voting for U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” and “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings is expected to open in February. Again this year, online voting for eligible physicians for the adult and children’s hospital surveys will be through Doximity (www.doximity.com). Online voting will remain open for one month.

U.S. News determines voting eligibility according to board certification in 16 adult and 10 pediatric specialties. Please see the tables below. In addition, U.S. News distributes a small sample of paper ballots by mail to those who are board-eligible to vote but did not register on Doximity by November 15, 2018.

Last year, through increased support voters helped Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital attain recognition among the nation’s top 20 adult hospitals on the U.S. News Best Hospitals “Honor Roll.” Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt continued to earn high rankings in all 10 pediatric specialties.

We would appreciate if all voting-eligible School of Medicine graduates, former house staff and fellows would take a moment in February to complete their survey supporting Vanderbilt.

In addition to the reputation survey, U.S. News considers an array of data-driven metrics including patient survival, nurse staffing ratios and the use of certain clinical technologies.
