VUMC creates new information hub for clinical providers

Vanderbilt University Medical Center has launched a new gateway to a curated collection of clinical evidence, drug information and patient education resources.

MyKnowledgeHub is a newly launched Vanderbilt University Medical Center gateway to a curated collection of clinical evidence, drug information and patient education resources available to the entire community of Vanderbilt health care providers. The new portal aims to facilitate quick clinician access to relevant information.

Content accessible through MyKnowledgeHub includes synthesized evidence in the form of clinical overviews and systematic reviews; drug information, including VUMC hospitals’ drug formularies; journals and books; and patient information on a variety of health topics. To enable access to key information, MyKnowledgeHub additionally features a carefully curated collection of health-related sites (e.g., Choosing Wisely).

Clinician-tailored instructional video tutorials are viewable for all licensed databases, and synchronous training can be requested for both individuals and groups. The site also provides clinicians with the instructions needed to access the Center for Knowledge Management’s (CKM) evidence consultation message basket, a service designed to answer patient-specific complex clinical questions at the point of care.

The portal was developed by CKM under the leadership of Nunzia Bettinsoli Giuse, MD, MLS, Vice President for Knowledge Management and professor of Biomedical Informatics at VUMC. A key component of CKM’s mission is to “curate, license and provide access to critical evidence-based resources,” including databases that are integrated within eStar for point-of-care consultation (e.g., UpToDate, Lexicomp, Krames).

For more information, a video overview is available that provides an introduction to MyKnowledgeHub, including highlighted features and tips for navigating the portal. MyKnowledgeHub can be accessed directly at https://myknowledgehub.vumc.org/ (VUMC connection/VPN or login required).
