Reception for Seth Karp recognizes leadership and commitment to Transplant Center

A reception was held Feb. 1 in the Langford Auditorium lobby to honor and recognize Seth Karp, MD, H. William Scott Jr. Professor and chair of the Section of Surgical Sciences, for his leadership and commitment in his former role as director of the Vanderbilt Transplant Center.

Karp came to Vanderbilt in 2011 and was director of the Transplant Center until last year, when Joseph Magliocca, MD, was named director of the Transplant Center and surgical director of the Pediatric Liver Transplant Program.

The reception featured remarks by C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer, as well as by the event’s hosts, Deonna Taylor, PhD, MSN, ACNP, associate nursing officer at the
Transplant Patient Care Center, and Ed Zavala, MBA, administrator of the Vanderbilt Transplant Center.

Karp is greeted by Robin L. Steaban, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer at Vanderbilt University Hospital.

Jennifer Pietenpol, PhD, Chief Scientific and Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President for Research for VUMC, center, was among many well-wishers for Karp at the event.
