Christine Cassel, MD, a leading expert in geriatric medicine, medical ethics and the quality of care, will deliver the next web-based Discovery Lecture on Thursday, March 25, at 4 p.m. via Zoom.
Her talk is titled “Professionalism, Quality of Care and Burnout: Where Do We Go From Here?” Participants need to register in advance through the Office of Research to receive webinar instructions.
Cassel holds a Presidential Chair at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, and is senior adviser for Strategy and Policy to the UCSF Department of Medicine.
She is a former member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, former president and CEO of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the ABIM Foundation and former president and CEO of the National Quality Forum.
Prior to coming to UCSF in 2018, Cassel was planning dean for the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine, which opened last year in Pasadena, California.
A member of the National Academy of Medicine, she is the author of more than 200 articles and editor or author of several books including “Medicare Matters: What Geriatric Medicine Can Teach American Health Care.”
