Vanderbilt’s Colin Walsh, MD, MA, was recently elected to the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) class of 2022. The 14 new fellows were inducted into the ACMI at the 2022 American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Symposium, held in Washington, DC.
“The American College of Medical Informatics includes informatics leaders from around the world, including some of my mentors who were responsible for giving me the training and opportunity to do the work that I do every day,” said Walsh, associate professor in the Departments of Biomedical Informatics, Medicine and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
“To be recognized by these incredible people by induction into ACMI remains one of the highlights of my career.”
The ACMI is an honorary college of more than 400 elected fellows from the United States and abroad who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical informatics and who have met rigorous scholarly scrutiny by their peers.
“I am incredibly excited to get to know more ACMI members and to learn from these leaders as AMIA and ACMI continue to tackle some of the hardest problems in science and medicine,” Walsh said.
Walsh is a practicing internist and clinical informatician. His research focuses on machine learning, artificial intelligence and suicide attempt prediction. He was named to the 2022 cohort of Vanderbilt’s Chancellor Faculty Fellows and he has a supporting role in the National Institutes of Health program Bridge to Artificial Intelligence (Bridge2AI) ethics core.
