Vanderbilt sees increased number of heat-related illnesses
Jul. 26, 2005—Vanderbilt‘s emergency physicians are seeing an increase in the number of heat-related emergencies and are urging the public to take precautions in the extreme heat.

Jul. 11, 2005— Thomas F. Catron, associate professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt Medical Center, has been named by Governor Phil Bredesen as the director of the Governor‘s Office of Children‘s Care Coordination.

LifeFlight to land at Country Music Hall of Fame; Event celebrates 20-year anniversary
Jun. 20, 2005— This afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. LifeFlight will touch down outside the Country Music Hall of Fame for part of an evening gala to be held at the museum celebrating LifeFlight‘s 20 years of service to Middle Tennessee.
Vanderbilt-Ingram Announces New Research Institute To Focus On Earliest Possible Detection Of Cancers
Jun. 15, 2005— The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center will launch a new research institute, jump-started with a $10 million gift from West Tennessee businessman Jim Ayers, to develop techniques to detect cancers at their earliest, most curable stages, Vanderbilt officials announced today.
Vanderbilt Kennedy Center receives gift from the Dan Marino Foundation
May. 19, 2005— Reaching out to children with autism and their families is what the Dan Marino Foundation is all about. The foundation recently expanded its impact through a gift of $100,000 to the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development. The gift, the first major donation the foundation has made outside of its home base of South Florida, will create Dan Marino Foundation Fellowships and Dan Marino Foundation Discovery Grants and will support the center‘s outreach programs.
2005 Vanderbilt nursing grads who overcame adversity available to comment for commencement stories
May. 12, 2005— Three graduates from Vanderbilt‘s School of Nursing overcame tough odds to earn their degrees. They are available to share their stories as Vanderbilt observes commencement exercises May 13.
Antibody may protect children from dangerous syndrome
May. 2, 2005— Vanderbilt University Medical Center will embark on a phase one clinical trial of a new product that could be used in children to protect them from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Vanderbilt will be the only site in the country testing this new product.
Vanderbilt Kennedy Reading Clinic accepting applications to assist struggling readers
Apr. 28, 2005— Learning to read is a struggle for one in five children. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Reading Clinic is currently accepting applications for two summer sessions. The first session will be June 6-30, and the second session will be July 11-Aug. 4.

Apr. 27, 2005— Reginald W. Coopwood, M.D. has been named the next CEO of the Metro Hospital Authority which inclues Nashville General Hospital at Meharry, Bordeaux Long Term Care and Knowles Assisted Living Facility and Adult Day Care.
Emotional disorders expert to speak at Vanderbilt Kennedy Center
Apr. 19, 2005— Richard Davidson, a psychologist who studies adults and young children who have or are at risk for emotional disorders, autism and other developmental disorders, will speak at the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development on Thursday, April 21, at 4 p.m.
