VEI’s Lebanon surgery center moving to VWCH

The surgery center adjacent to the Vanderbilt Eye Institute Lebanon has closed and surgical care for VEI patients is moving to the Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital Surgery Center.

In 1994, Harold “Scottie” Scott’s HIV-positive status was covered on the local news. He has been an educator ever since.

Now, 25 years after his announcement, Scott’s mission remains the same: to educate others on the history of HIV, dispel myths and break down stigma.

On Halloween, speech therapists at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital led children trick-or-treating around patient floors and nursing stations as part of their routine therapy. Children used socialization and pragmatic language skills to ask staff for treats and practiced their “K” sounds as they said “trick or treat” and “thank you.”
