Swim season opens up safety concerns
Memorial Day week is a time for medical experts to remind families to use extra caution with children swimming in area lakes and pools. From May through August, the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children\'s Hospital at Vanderbilt can expect to see dozens of children injured or killed in accidents involving the water. -

Country group Rascal Flatts honored for Children’s Hospital work
Country music supergroup Rascal Flatts has been honored for their unflagging support of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children\'s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The multiplatinum-selling band was presented with the Humanitarian Award by the Academy of Country Music and Home Depot during Sunday Night\'s 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. -

Bluebird on the Mountain series launches fourth season; May show to spotlight Tony Haselden, Georgia Middleman and Billy Kirsch
In what has become a summertime tradition in Nashville, the popular Bluebird on the Mountain concert series begins its fourth season at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory. This year\'s series opens with a show featuring performances by Tony Haselden, Georgia Middleman and Billy Kirsch. The 2008 series ñ which includes six concerts ñ runs from May 17 to Oct. 11 and will showcase nearly two dozen of Nashville\'s finest singer-songwriters.
