Through increased support for population health initiatives, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is positioning for a health care economy that rewards long-term relationships with patients through better engagement and emphasizes improving health management for large groups.

Thirteen surveyors from The Joint Commission (TJC), the independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States, visited Vanderbilt University Medical Center last week for an unannounced survey.

The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Spring Clinical Enterprise Leadership Assembly, held on May 21 at Langford Auditorium, highlighted ways the Medical Center is preparing to lead in a consumer-driven health care economy, where patients’ concerns over both cost and quality will drive industry change.

C. Wright Pinson, MBA, M.D., deputy vice chancellor for Health Affairs and CEO of the Vanderbilt Health System, is the recipient of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) 2015 Distinguished Service Award.
