Vanderbilt Health staff traveled from around the region for an Employee Welcome Event on Wednesday, Feb. 4, to greet new colleagues at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital, which officially joined the enterprise Feb. 2.

As Vanderbilt Health System leader, Pinson has championed a culture of service and has overseen a period of explosive clinical growth.

Faced with great challenge and uncertainty, those who make up the department’s faculty have remained true to their mission and completed “outstanding, lifesaving work,” she said.

Harris succeeds Jane Freedman, MD, as she assumes the role of Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer.  

After 35 years of tireless service to the people and patients of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer, will step down from that role.

Department of Medicine clinicians see patients in 19 counties across Middle Tennessee as well as the surrounding region. There were 86,096 outpatient visits for fiscal year 2024, an increase of more than 25,000 visits over fiscal year 2023.
