VUMC to acquire Tennova Shelbyville and Tullahoma Hospitals from Community Health Systems, Inc., and partner with Tennova Clarksville Hospital

Leaders of Vanderbilt University Medical Center announced plans to purchase Tennova Healthcare-Shelbyville and Tennova Healthcare-Harton hospitals from subsidiaries of Community Health Systems Inc. (CHS). At the same time, VUMC will acquire minority ownership in CHS’s Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville hospital.

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt opens new clinic in Jackson, Tennessee

On Sept. 28, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt opened the Vanderbilt Children’s Specialty Clinics in a new location in Jackson, Tennessee.

Winkfield to direct Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance

Karen Winkfield, MD, PhD, associate professor of Radiation Oncology at Wake Forest University, associate director for Community Outreach and Engagement, and director of the Office of Cancer Health Equity at Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been named the new executive director of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance.

LifeFlight adds NPs, physicians to expand flight crew

Patients treated and transported by Vanderbilt LifeFlight are now receiving a higher level of care thanks to the credentialing of more than 20 flight nurses as nurse practitioners and the addition of a flight physician at several LifeFlight bases.
