Shade Tree Trot fundraising event set for April 8

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s annual Shade Tree Trot 5K, a long-standing fund-raising tradition, is set for Saturday, April 8.

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s annual Shade Tree Trot 5K, a long-standing fund-raising tradition, has a new location this year.

The 5K, which raises funds for the medical and nursing student-run Shade Tree Clinic, will be held at Percy Warner Park on Saturday, April 8.

The Trot has been moved off campus due to construction. This year’s race will take place at Vaughn’s Creek Cross Country Course at Percy Warner Park.

Located approximately eight miles southwest of campus, the course is a favorite of many locals and home site for the Commodore Classic and Belmont Opener every fall.

Leashed pets will be allowed on the course, but the terrain is not conducive to strollers. This venue is a true cross-country course featuring an all-grass running surface and rolling hills.

The race has an 8:30 a.m. start time, with activities and onsite registration beginning at 7 a.m. Those interested can register here.

The annual 5K race is for everyone. Whether a competitive or casual runner, all race participants will help ensure Shade Tree Clinic is able to provide necessary services to patients and important training opportunities for the next generation of medical care providers.
