Jared McKinney, MD, associate professor of Emergency Medicine and medical director of LifeFlight Ground and Event Medicine, has been named by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee to the state Emergency Medical Services Board. He will serve a four-year term.
The board is empowered to approve schools and prescribe courses for EMS personnel, promulgate regulations governing licenses and permits, and establish standards for the activities and operation of emergency medical and ambulance services. The board also conducts hearings to review and decide disciplinary matters.
The Emergency Medical Services Board consists of 13 board members who are appointed by the Governor. It was created in 1983 and the first meeting was in June of that year.
“I am humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to serve on the EMS Board and am excited to work with such an amazing group,” McKinney said.
