Jacob Brown got a phone call five years ago that changed his life: New lungs were available for transplant on the Fourth of July. A Marine veteran and Hodgkin’s lymphoma survivor, Brown had exhausted options elsewhere before Vanderbilt Health took on his case. Today, he’s celebrating the anniversary of that second chance.
“There’s a lot of great patriotic things about my life, but the fact that I was reborn on July Fourth is amazing to me,” Brown said.
