All money raised during the games benefits the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund at Children’s Hospital to support childhood cancer initiatives.

Hockey Fights Cancer

Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt patient Maylee Wilshire served as Mayor of Smashville at the recent Nashville Predators Hockey Fights Cancer Night.

Blair School of Music junior Javin Bose, left, recently played cello for visitor Angela Pursley and her mother, ICU patient Linda Saddler. The live performance was part of the Therapeutic Music in the ICU pilot project, which studies the effect of live music on ICU patients, staff and families. Since the program began in January, volunteers have played more than 85 hours for patients. Vanderbilt musicians are still needed for the study. Major road closures to again affect I-65, I-440, Franklin Road March 20-23

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced plans for bridge work at the interchange of Interstate 65 and Interstate 440 which will require the complete closure of the interchange from Friday, March 20 at 9 p.m. through Monday, March 23 at 5 a.m.

Known for his funny costumes and adventures, the Nashville dog’s videos and photos have been viewed by millions on social media. Doug the Pug visits

Internet sensation Doug the Pug, who recently starred in a Super Bowl commercial, visited patients and families in Seacrest Studio at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Researchers gathered Feb. 25 in Light Hall for presentations in celebration of VUMC’s fourth annual REDCap Day. REDCap (short for Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. It’s specifically geared to support online or offline data capture for research studies and operations. Developed at VUMC by Paul Harris, PhD, MS, (shown above) and released in 2004, REDCap has 1.2 million users in 135 countries. For more information visit projectredcap.org.
