Both Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) and Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital have been recognized as being among the safest hospitals in the nation after receiving a spring 2022 safety grade of “A” from the Leapfrog group.

Physicians at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) have recently noticed an increase in pregnant patients ill with COVID-19. These cases are especially concerning due an increased risk of hospitalization, ICU admission, need for mechanical ventilation and ventilatory support, and increased risk of death in pregnant patients with COVID-19 compared to non-pregnant patients.

Warren Sandberg, MD, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, and Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital’s (VUAH) chief of staff for Perioperative and Critical Care Service, has been named as the hospital’s new Chief of Staff.

Shubhada Jagasia, MD, MMHC, professor of Medicine and chief of staff for Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital and Clinics, has accepted a new position as President and Chief Executive Officer for Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown and West Hospitals. She will be leaving Vanderbilt University Medical Center this month.
