Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Medicine, Pediatrics and Adjoint Professor of Nursing; Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs for Department of Biomedical Informatics; and Director of My Health at Vanderbilt, the online patient portal for Vanderbilt Health.

Rosenbloom earned his MD, followed by a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics, a fellowship in biomedical informatics, and an MPH, all at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine/Vanderbilt Health. His father (an early MD/PhD graduate) and grandfather also earned their medical degrees at VUSM.

Rosenbloom’s research focuses on how medical providers interact with health information technologies when documenting patient care and making decisions, and how electronic health records can be leveraged to improve patient engagement.

His wife, Ellie, is a project manager for the NASA-supported Tennessee Space Grant Consortium at Vanderbilt’s School of Engineering.

“My Health at Vanderbilt is one of the oldest patient portals in continuous use in the world. I can say ‘in the world,’ because we’ve been doing biomedical informatics so well, for so long. We also have the largest faculty of any biomedical informatics department in the world. My faculty affairs role is happy work. It’s getting people hired, promoted, tenured, and, if appropriate, emeritus appointments.”
