Match Day — and Vanderbilt’s longstanding tradition of gathering fourth-year medical students, their families, friends and faculty together to celebrate — was revamped again this year to implement social distancing measures due to COVID-19. Unlike last year, however, the students had the option to reveal their residency matches either in person or virtually via livestream.

The annual Shade Tree Trot, a vital and long-standing fundraiser for the Shade Tree Clinic, will be held virtually again this year. The weeklong event is open to the public.

After a several-year hiatus, the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Faculty Advisory Council has been re-established to represent the School’s 3,000-plus faculty.

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine students will be rolling up their sleeves and pitching in to vaccinate patients against COVID-19.

“Families being affected by the financial impact of the coronavirus made the subject of food insecurity more important than ever. Children seemed to be a vulnerable population that would benefit from a project like this."

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Academy for Excellence in Education is developing a mentoring program for scientist educators, clinician educators and clinical practice faculty that will provide support and guidance to access and acquire the resources and skills necessary for successful careers as educators. Named the Geoffrey Fleming Mentoring Program, it will be implemented in spring 2021.
