At the HIMSS 2024 Global Health Conference, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and other leading academic medical centers joined as Microsoft announced the formation of a new consortium, the Trustworthy & Responsible AI Network (TRAIN).

The Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center has launched its groundbreaking center for health Artificial Intelligence (AI) – ADVANCE (AI Discovery and Vigilance to Accelerate Innovation and Clinical Excellence).

The new center, supported by a $5 million grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute will focus on training scientists and supporting research to minimize gaps between the generation of clinical evidence, implementation of proven interventions and development of informed public health policy.

A Vanderbilt team has received funding to pursue research projects deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to enhance diagnostic decision-making in health care.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Duke University School of Medicine have been awarded a $1.25 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation for the project “Measuring Artificial Intelligence (AI) Maturity in Healthcare Organizations.”

Artificial intelligence experts from industry and from Vanderbilt gathered on the VUMC campus recently for the first annual Healthcare Artificial Intelligence Sessions, or HAIS 23, sponsored by the Brock Family Center.
