The event brings physician-scientists, resident physicians, MD, MD/PhD and undergraduate students together to promote mentorship, provide information and showcase student research.

Saturday, Sept. 21, was a busy day for volunteer events supporting good causes, with both the Shade Tree Trot and Greater Nashville Heart Walk taking place.

The members of the incoming class include 88 MD, 15 Medical Scientist Training Program and one oral and maxillofacial surgery student. They were selected from a pool of more than 6,800 applicants and came to VUSM from 29 states, six foreign countries and 63 undergraduate schools with 57 majors.

Hundreds of Vanderbilt medical, nursing and graduate students took part in last week’s Commencement.

The talk provided insights into the challenges and rewards of commercializing academic research.

Within the intellectual powerhouse that is Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center thrives a group of doctors, engineers, computer scientists and others who also are visionaries, inventors and entrepreneurs. 

Vanderbilt University School of Medicine continues to make impressive strides in research funding, rankings and faculty accomplishments, Dean Jeff Balser, MD, PhD, said Friday during the spring faculty meeting.
