The Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will receive significant philanthropic support through a $3 million gift from the Country Music Association, Vanderbilt University Medical Center leaders, event host Kix Brooks and Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum announced Tuesday.

Vanderbilt University has received a contract from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for up to $28 million over four years to help more than 4,000 clinicians in the Southeast transform their clinical practices in ways that improve quality of patient care and hold down costs.

A few thousand families in the Metro Nashville Public Schools system will now have computers at home, thanks to Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s donation of 3,800 lightly used computers.

Nashville Predators captain Shea Weber and goaltender Pekka Rinne, along with Predators leaders and mascot Gnash, recently presented the proceeds of the team’s 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR) is partnering with a public charity, Cures Within Reach, to encourage “rediscovery research,” the “repurposing” of already approved medical treatments to other conditions or diseases for which there are no “universally” effective therapies.
