New faculty awards honor clinical, research, teaching missions

The Office of Research, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the Basic Sciences have created four new faculty awards named to honor and recognize past and current leadership in the clinical, educational, and research missions of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

 

The Office of Research, the Office of Faculty Affairs, and the Basic Sciences are announcing four new faculty awards named to honor and recognize past and current leadership in the clinical, educational, and research missions of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Two new awards are being introduced for the 2022 award cycle and will be subsequently awarded in even years at the School of Medicine Spring Faculty Assembly.

These are:

  • Kevin B. Johnson, M.D. Award – For innovative approaches advancing clinical practice and/or biomedical research.
  • Kathryn M. Edwards, M.D. Award – For Clinical and Translational Research Impacting Disease Prevention.

Nominations for the 2022 faculty awards are currently open. The deadline is Jan. 21. The nomination form can be found here.

Two new awards will be introduced in the 2023 award cycle and will be awarded in odd years at the School of Medicine Spring Faculty Assembly.

These are:

  • Lee E. Limbird, Ph.D. Award – For Innovation in Research Infrastructure that Facilitates Multiple Investigators.
  • Bonnie M. Miller, M.D. Award – For Innovation in Undergraduate Medical Education.
