Lea Braun received such exceptional care during her stay at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital that she wanted to find a meaningful way to thank the team, especially two nurses who made a lasting impact.
Braun donated one of the favorite photographs she’s taken: It’s of a bald eagle, taken in her home state of Iowa. She felt the image was a fitting tribute to the hospital team members who have served our country, said Braun, who is the spouse and mother of veterans.
Ervin Nepomuceno, RN, and Nathan Thompson, RN, two nurses on the fifth floor, earned special recognition from Braun for their compassion and care.
“The care I received was outstanding. I was placed on the fifth floor, and the hospital staff was amazing,” Braun said. “I want to give a special shout-out to my two fantastic nurses, Ervin and Nathan. They were both so kind — rays of sunshine whenever they entered my room.”
Over the years, Braun’s eagle photograph has been donated to organizations and offices across 17 states, three countries, numerous veterans’ organizations, and government agencies. Her gift now has a home at Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital.
