Six clinical departments and two basic science departments at VUSM ranked in the top 10 among medical school departments nationwide in fiscal year 2025.  

At Vanderbilt Health, there are currently more than 1,200 residents and fellows in more than 180 programs, all of whom contribute significantly to patient care and research, and serve a crucial role in the training of medical students.

Since 2014, 27 Vanderbilt faculty members have received the annual award, which recognizes “notable achievements” by researchers early in their first faculty appointments.

VWCH has partnered with Mt. Juliet High School on the hospital’s first inpatient training experience that brings high school students directly into clinical settings to learn about the many roles that support the health and well-being of patients in their community.

Its residency program was recently recognized by Doximity, an online professional network for U.S. physicians, as No. 1 by reputation for the fifth consecutive year.

Parekh succeeds Kyla Terhune, MD, MBA, who was named Senior Vice President for Education at the American College of Surgeons, effective Nov. 1.

Vanderbilt has been training physician-scientists for more than 60 years. Many graduates have gone on to leadership positions in academia, government, industry and clinical practice.
