A significant portion of the proceeds are benefiting the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Arts program. The event served as an opportunity for attendees to meet the artist and learn more about the VUMC Arts mission.

Serving as the new front door to Vanderbilt University Hospital, the building serves as a visible reminder of the monumental impact Janet and Jim Ayers have had on the people of Tennessee.

This year, more than 60 participating surgeons, fellow and resident surgeons, attending anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists, surgery center staff and Spanish interpreters volunteered on an August Saturday to help those who couldn’t otherwise afford it.

Donors are welcomed into the Legacy Circle when they make a lasting gift to the Medical Center through their will, retirement plan, life insurance policy or trust.

The high-energy fundraiser began in 2022 to raise money for cancer initiatives at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Many of these endowed directorships at VUMC are funded by generous donors who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in research and patient care.

Saturday, Sept. 21, was a busy day for volunteer events supporting good causes, with both the Shade Tree Trot and Greater Nashville Heart Walk taking place.
