Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt has opened a new pediatric primary care clinic in Lebanon, Tennessee, across the street from Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital (VWCH).

The Vanderbilt Transplant Center (VTC) established a new record in 2020 for total solid organ transplants, performing 611 life-saving procedures among its adult and pediatric organ transplant programs.

Certified neonatal therapists are not common, as there are only approximately 500 of these specialized professionals in the world. Fortunately, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt has two on staff.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center performed more heart transplants in 2020 than any other center in the world — 124 adult hearts, 23 pediatric hearts and VUMC’s first heart-lung transplant since 2006.

In fall 2020, 9% of Tennessee children were uninsured, more than twice the level at the same time in 2019, according to a new poll conducted by the Vanderbilt Center for Child Health Policy. Just 4% of children were uninsured in fall 2019, the poll found.

Eunice Huang, MD, MS, has joined Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as associate surgeon-in-chief and chief surgical quality and innovations officer. She is also professor and vice chair of Clinical Services in the Department of Pediatric Surgery.

The Nashville Predators hockey team, longtime supporters of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and its programs, recently presented the hospital with the proceeds raised throughout the year from the team’s 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily.
