On April 16, Vanderbilt University Medical Center held its second Directorship Celebration to honor 10 leaders from across the enterprise in clinical care, research, education and administration.

Joseph “Jay” Smith Jr., MD, professor of Urologic Surgery, has been awarded the 2019 Willet F. Whitmore Jr. Award and Lectureship from the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO).

Kyla Terhune, MD, MBA, associate professor Surgery and director of the Surgery Residency Training Program in the Section of Surgical Sciences, has been named Vice President for Educational Affairs for Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education for Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Her appointment is effective July 1.

Justin Bachmann, MD, MPH, is receiving the Presidential Career Development Award from the American College of Cardiology (ACC), which comes with one year of research support totaling $70,000.

Rachel Forbes, MD, MBA, assistant professor of Surgery, has been appointed associate chief of the Division of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation.

Daniel Barocas, MD, MPH, associate professor of Urology, is being recognized with a national award from the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) for his efforts to develop urologic cancer quality measures.
